  • Countdown...

Going in for the RPLND tomorrow. Lots of stuff to take care of today, hopefully it will keep the nerves at bay for a while. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for sharing your advice and experiences, this forum has helped me out more than I can say.

Robert, I am trying to keep the walking advice in the front of my mind, thanks...

John....You can do it...you can do it....you can do it!!!!

Cold towels on your forehead seem to help with pain. ((although the excellent drugs come in handy too))

Don't forget not to eat or drink even a sip of water for least 4-5 days post surgery.

Walk as much as you can...slowly...it will help you heal and get those bowels moving

Take a robe. You will be up and walking and you may not want everyone on your floor seeing your bare tushie.

You will do great and we are here pulling for you!!!!

Totally what Margaret said about the walking. The key here is SLOWLY. I was so irritated at how long it was taking to get my bowels moving...I flew around the ward 5 times really fast and ended up with a fever. Oops.

Oh...and part of the ward was the OB/GYN part. They were the ones that told me about my bare tushie. Doh!

You'll do fine! See you when you get back.

                  hi

                  John,
                  Bonne Chance with RPLND!
Be ready to wake up with some stuff attached to you.
Tell your relatives that you feel much better than they think
All these tubes are to help you and they are just for several days after the surgery.
The liquids trough IV will balance the important elements in your body so don’t worry if they attach and switch different things.
Every morning they will check the blood and prescribe the liquids accordingly.
Normally, the pain is very well managed and you will be able to walk very soon.
                  Everything will be fine.

Hi John: We're thinking about you buddy! Be prepared, all those nurses are gonna ask you questions like "Have you passed gas?" or "Have you had a bowel movement?" whenever they come into your room. Those questions will really start to get annoying after your first 24-hours in the hospital. So you have to be ready with a quick, witty comeback It'll help keep your spirits up...and it might just keep you from throwing the sponges-on-a-stick at them. Has anyone told you about those? They're like gold! Only things that keep your mouth moist for a few days.

                    Good luck...happy thoughts!
