Persistence always pays off...sorry to hear about the infection, but glad to hear that you've got it under control. All our best for your continued recovery Sy.

Right on with following your own instincts! It sounded strange to me, but I only have experience with my husband's I/O incision.... which healed without a hitch. So I was just following the thread and hoping you were okay!

Good to know nothing is going to fall off!

Good for you! Good lesson to share also, when in doubt, call someone or go to the hosptial. You know your own body better than anyone!

I had to write...there is some humor in all of this...

I developed a hematoma that when my surgeon saw it said "please cover that up"....I was black & blue from the surgical scar, 8 inches down my leg...and my entire penis was black & blue....sorry - but had to laugh a bit when you said the base is discolored...

my wife is next to me as I'm typing this and we are both laughing at the memory...

keep an eye on it, have them look at it if you are real concerned...but around my scar it was swollen the size of a softball...scared me to death...did not scare the docs though...they just wanted to make certain I did not get an infection...never did...

but was it ever ugly....I did take pics when I emailed the doc...but I'll spare you...

I had a lot of bruising on the penis also, not just the base, but all along the side, it was swollen also, not a pretty sight , but common. But if you think it's getting worse, better to see the doctor.

    best wishes.

I've suggested this link before, even though it's to information on a site about hernias. It provides a good description of the "healing ridge."

That is scar tissue. It will decrease significantly, but will always be there. After about 2-3 weeks the "buldge" where your incision is will start to go away.

Sadly the tube feeling and discomfort are normal. A pain in the butt, but normal. Of course I am no doctor so if your pain is concerning, it never hurts to go to the doctor and have him take a look.

My husband's scrotum was very swollen for weeks post surgery.

Hi Sy! Welcome to the forum...we hope that you find comfort and good insights here. Sorry you had to join the club. It was a lot of relief for my husband Andy to apply ice to the incision around the "bikini line" as Scott referred to it, as well as the scrotum. Andy's did become quite swollen and purple and looked so much worse than the incision site...but the ice will help with the swelling and you'll feel much better. Here's to happy thoughts for your continued recovery.
