  • pet-scan question

    hello everyone,

As i might have mentioned on the last few posts, Brian goes for his very 1st petscan on friday. i guess this will be a good way of telling us which way things are going to go. here is where i am confused...

i know that they petscan shows active cancer, Brian's hcg is 10!
still going down, thank god!. he is done with the chemo. (I HOPE)
if his markers are down to 10 and going down still, i am concerned on what the petscan will show. My feeling, is that if the markers keep going down, how bad could the results of the Pet-scan be? i am just nervous because we keep coming across these road blocks. Nothing can ever just work out perfect for him.

Hopefully nothing . The goal is to see nothing light up. The results from the PET will be overlayed with the CT, so if the suspected masses don't light up, he will be in good shape. Hang in there. I'll be sending good vibes for a great result.

My guess is that one thing did, and she's part of this forum. Sending out some positive thoughts with Fed (and everyone else). Hang in there.

Having the PET scan is a good thing Dawn, it will give a more accurate idea how how to treat him and show his progress. I think Boyce had his first PET scan right after his O/T and it was a very clear picture of was going on. His numbers are coming down, which means that the treatment is working. I hope for good results, let us know. We are pulling for you both!

well , from what you said, because his markers are down so low, that the pet-scan could be a success??

Do you know what happens if the masses light up?

                  does that mean more chemo?
