Whew! That gasp of air was my relief for you (not meant to indicate Rob's gas!!!) . Hey, remember when we first met on the forum, I mentioned that my rule of thumb is to keep your sense of humor up about these things . You and Rob had quite a day, Stacy...but I am so relieved to hear the positive energy coming through your post. No infections, passing gas and a bowel movement...a great day indeed! I hope that you see continued improvement in the upcoming days ahead and that you'll both get to go home soon, 'cuz one thing hospitals have NOT perfected is letting a patient SLEEP! Seems universal! Much love and a big hug to Rob!

Still here. Rob had a major panic attack the other night. The next night was better, but last night he was running to the bathroom six or seven times and having vitals checked because of a blood tranfusion (he's anemic, the new blood will help carry more oxygen). He's undergoing blood transfusion number two today. His breathing was labored and short. On the upshot, his WBC is normal again, they started him on lasixs again and he's been peeing gallons, and that is great progress. Unfortunately, now he may have C. Diff. Joe, is that what you had? It's getting his spirits waaaaay down, mine too. I may have to get a ride home today, I think I'm starting to crack a bit, but I feel like, how can I leave him now?? I know he hates me seeing him this way, and truthfully, I'm so afraid of getting sick if he has C.Diff that I call the nurses to help him.

But we got Sheinfeld to laugh. Twice. So it can be done.

You do need a break. He will be fine, is there anyone else that can stay with him? If your starting to "crack" he senses that, and it only makes him hurt more, because he's dealing with so much and I'm sure he'd want to comfort you. So take a day break, regroup, and you'll be good as new.

My dear friend Stacy: I'm sorry to hear this...I know what you mean about cracking. I was in the hospital with Andy almost 24/7...I slept there in his room with him every night he was there. It was a ritual, the nurses knew to wheel in my cot at around 10PM. But I got some relief when his friends or my family would come to visit, 'cuz then I could run home and shower and get away from it even if it's just for a little while. He knew it wasn't to get away from him (although he was pretty stinky), but rather to re-energize myself and get away from the situation. I hope you have an opportunity to do the same...Rob will understand, trust me. And don't feel guilty about it. You need to re-charge your batteries so you can be there for him when he'll need you most. Stay strong Stacy! Much love from Cali!

Stacy...you got Dr. S to laugh impossible!!!

I can so relate to what you are feeling and I am hear for you. Call anytime 919-215-9464. you are a wonderful wife and brighter days are ahead!

As for that shower you speak of M, I actually took a "bath" in the restroom on the 5th floor. It was amazing how many body parts I could squeeze in under that faucet. Poor Michael had to put up with a very 'unshowered' me. Boyce did not mind though, he could not smell anything over his own, very intense smell!

Hope I made you laugh a bit. Witty wives gotta sick together.
