  • A Better Update...

    Hello all...

Just wanted to clarify the results from thursday. i was hearing like 2 different stories, from Brian and His mom!... i guess sometimes when you are hearing 80 different things thrown at you, it is hard to forget what was said.

I called Dr. Bosl's nurse Mary Ann yesterday, here is what she told me.

The petscan looked good, there was a minimal activity in the belly area she said, but they expect that. his markers are down to 5. the only way to know for sure if there is cancer in the liver, is to do the biopsy (should be done next week). they dont want to operate if there is live cancer. which leads me to believe that the petscan didnt show much activity in the liver, or else they wouldnt be doing the biopsy. she also said that the Liver surgeon at MSKCC
has seen Brian's scans and said that they surgery is possible!. she said they couldnt have had things go any smoother than they did.

SO, Brian is on his way into manhatten, to get his 1st Brain MRI (they wanted to do it for pre-op purposes, and plus they never did one when he was 1st diagnosed. he only had a cat-scan of the brain) they said they dont expect to find anything, but they jsut wanted a base line. he meets with the liver surgeon today. Mary ann said that as long as his markers stay the way they are, or go lower, he will have surgery in the next couple of weeks...i will keep you all posted on what happens...

Ah! See the difference now that you are getting the story straight? I am glad to hear that you were able to get some clarification as to all of this, and it's also great you went straight to the source... information that gets passed on from person to person to person can get somewhat distorted. I am happy for you and Brian that you were able to get some clarity. Let's hope for great results when he gets his liver biopsy done next week.
