  • Brian's trip to the liver surgeon at MSKCC

Brian met with the liver surgeon Dr. Jarnigan, who said, YES i can do the surgery!~!.... this is good because they werent sure if it was operable!! a bit of a relief for us! his bedside manor was nicer than dr. sheinfeld.

The Dr. said he is going to take 1/2 of Brian's liver, he doesnt know if he has to have the biopsy. he is going to let us know.

I feel bad because i am so happy about this, because i am not the one who has to go through the physical pain, but i just know that each day after the surgery, as he gets better, i will feel like he is on his way to being cured!!!

    Dawn

will give more updates when i get them

This is great news Dawn. Progress is a wonderful thing. Every step you are moving towards a cure.

Dr. S does not have the sweetest bed-side manner but he makes up for it with very skilled fingers...and a big brain.

      Dawn:
I know the liver surgery is scarry but it does sound like a plan is in place to get you guys cured. Please keep us update as to when the operation will be.

I don't think I ever heard Sheinfeld and bedside manner in the same sentence before. On the other hand I've also never heard Sheinfeld and bad job in the same sentence.

Dawn, I'm glad to hear things are moving forward. The good thing is that even after the liver resection, the organ is capable of regenerating. Keep us posted with any updates. We're here for you!

I can't help with the medical question they way some people here can so I will leave that to them.

But I can send you my love and support. Waiting could be one of the worst emotions to feel. Once I know what is wrong, I can fix it, or at least try to fix it. Not knowing anything makes me feel the most helpless. I have been standing in your shoes more than I care to mention, as most of us here have...and that is what bonds us. In many ways, I think the waiting is what brings us all together.

I will pray for wonderful news....and less waiting.
