I would never complain about not having to drink the barium solution. I have heard that some radiologists / oncologists do not require it, but I have not been fortunate enough to have a doctor who falls in that category.

I agree with Fish about not worrying about the re-scan. I had something similar happen once to me and it is rarely anthing related to what they see on the scan. The techs just want to make sure they can get the best picture possible so an accurate reading can be done.

Best wishes on what will hopefully be many future ALL CLEAR's!

I wouldn't read too much into what went on. It's very likely that the "film" was not clear and even though you felt the contrast, it might not have gotten through all the deep blood vessels. They could have asked the radiologist to come is hoping that the scan would not have to be redone.

As for the oral contrast, apparently most doctors request it, but some do not. It does highlight you intestines and having looked at my own CT scans, it seem it would make them easier to read, but I'm sure the radiologists are used to looking at them both ways.

Best wishes for an "ALL CLEAR", I know how stressful the waiting is.

    First post-RT CT scan

Hoping that everything will come out ok, but I just had a few quick questions. First off I didn't have to drink the barium solution. They said it wasn't necessary. Has this happened to anyone before? Also after the contrast was injected and the scan was over. There was a flurry of activity which resulted in the radiologist coming in and taking a look. They said they had to redo the scan because the contrast hadn't reached my pelvis yet. I could feel the dye get down there before the scan started. But that raised my anxiety a bit more. Anyone else had that experience? I'm hoping I just read too much into it.
