    Glad to hear Rob's home.

Oral flagyl can be really nasty. It often causes a metallic taste in the back of the mouth/throat. Many people will gag strongly if the flagyl starts to dissolve in the mouth. I was lucky, I had it IV after my gall bladder was removed and did not have problems with that route of administration.

Boyce said that everything tasted terrible too...but he thought that was because he was eating 'cardboard'...aka...no fat . Not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. I hope he feels well soon and we are thinking of you.

Hi, Sometimes the anesthesia can create odd reactions with the digestive track. As with the nausea, some people have different reactions than others. I can't say for sure, but would guess that might be part of the concern. Other medications can alter also. Difficult to say how long, sometimes people have had concerns for a week or two. Go with what tastes good! Take care Sharon

    Hi Stacy,

I'm glad to hear that Rob is finally home, but sorry I can't help you with your question.

It took Anthony awhile to get his appetite back, but he ate and never said that food didn't taste good.

I'll be interested in hearing what may cause this too-

I hope things get back to normal for you both very soon.

    Hugs to you both,
    Tammy

    Funny taste after RPLND?

    Hi everyone -

Rob is home from Sloan!! What a long road it was. We're going to see Dr. Sheinfeld on Thursday because there was some concern about a drain they had in Rob's side. They removed it, but Sheinfeld wants to keep a close eye on it.

Now that he can eat, though, everything tastes awful, he says. Did anyone else suffer this side effect, and for how long? The nurse said it was normal, but didn't elaborate. Rob is wondering when food will taste normal, and what could be causing it. Our only conclusion was antibiotics. He's on amoxicillan for pnuemonia and Flagyl for C. Diff.
