Welcome, Sercan, I'm glad you found us. It sounds as though surveillance is working out for you so far: your AFP is dropping just as expected, by half every 5-7 days. About 70% of men with stage I non-seminoma are cured by the orchiectomy alone, so your odds are pretty good. Obviously, it's critical to make every appointment, so if you should have a recurrence, you catch it early.

right inguinal orchiectomy 6/5/2003 > nonseminoma, stage I > surveillance > L-RPLND 6/24/2005 for recurrence, suspected teratoma but found seminoma, stage II > chylous ascites until 9/2005 > surveillance and "all clear" since

Turkey? I think your the first from there, welcome. From what you know so far surveillance seems like a good option. If your markers contine to drop and you have no signs of spread you have a really great chance that you're already cured. That would be great. Please keep us posted on the results of your follow-ups and make sure you don't miss any appointments.

i want to get your ideas about sometihng which confuses me much!

end of this april, my right test. swollen and shrank it lasted one day. then came back to normal, so i didnt think it was an extraordinary condition. then in may or june my nipples began to hurt abit and in july it swoolen and didnt not back to normal, so went to doctor in july and diagnosed. the problem is about 3 months passed before first sign! but i am I-A in stage. it sounds too good to believe.

                    what you think about it?

The sore nipples are from the elevated b-HCG. You are posting only your AFP numbers but I am assuming you are also having B-HCG and LDH checked? Your markers are normal 3 months out, your scans were clear, no sign of spread....very good news. Are you having any problems now?

                          Sercan,
You absolutely must have B-HCG checked...espicially since your B-HCG was quite elevated before surgery. An elevation in B-HCG or AFP in your case would signal a possible recurrance. Please make sure all three markers are checked while on surveillance. Let us know how it goes tomorrow.

                            doc day

i have showed my AFP this morning to my doc. he said he had been expecting this afp level. and he gave me another appointment, one month later but this time he asks for B-hcg besides AFP. i asked why he hadn't asked for B-hcg last time. he said it isnt possible to rise of a marker while the other is falling, so if my afp had't come to normal limits he would have thought something was wrong.
that's all for now. i will wait and see
