From what I have learned...it is very stealthy! That is why there is a need for serious techinical support trying to detect it. SharonClick here to support my LIVESTRONG Challenge with Team LOVEstrong.

Sercan, my understanding is that your markers will rise. That is why the follow ups are so critical. Have you had your blood markers checked recently?Co-survivor with husband Boyce, Diagnosed 7-11-06, orchiectomy right testicle on 7-12-06- Stage 3A: Mixed germ cell tumor with inguinal seminomatous and kartotypic carcinoma. One tumor over 10 cm, second tumor 4 cm, Chemo 4xBEP: Bi-lateral RPLND Dec 2006, nerve sparing but left sterile.
Current DVT
Current testosterone replacement therapy, Testim.

scanitis (n.)- the feeling of anxiety a person gets on the days leading up to surveillance radiology or tumor marker labs.
This is very normal, and the feeling should be less prominent the further along you are in your surveillance. Try to keep your cool, and don't panic.

Just think of it like this, your AFP was normal the last time it was checked, there is no reason to think it would have gone up. If you are really anxious, maybe they could move your appt. up so you don't have to wait. I know it is tough, but great news is coming!Co-survivor with husband Boyce, Diagnosed 7-11-06, orchiectomy right testicle on 7-12-06- Stage 3A: Mixed germ cell tumor with inguinal seminomatous and kartotypic carcinoma. The blood markers wont necessarily rise either and the ct scan is only likely to catch something thats 1cm or bigger, all means its important to keep going to the checkups so in the event of a recurrence its noticed asap. I like to remember that the chances are its not likely to recurr.

Sercan,
The anxiety with follow ups is tough. For us, it got a little bit better as time goes along but it's still miserable. Don't worry until you know you have something to worry about. You markers fell wonderfully and were low at your last check.Retired moderator. Husband, left I/O 16Dec2005, stage I seminoma with elevated b-HCG, no LVI, RTx15 (25Gy). All clear ever since.

Russell will have chest film and tumor markers today! It is like the hurricane carrying Dorothy through the sky. Glad to know we can get a glimpse of any new concerns and also dealing with the scanitis!! Will be tired tonight, but I plan on shrinking this monster down to size all day long!!!!!Sharon
