Yes, Dr. Sheinfeld is the best.....he did my sons RPLND two years ago...and while he may not have the best bedside manner - to Chris our son, he was wonderful. I drove him crazy and he got used to it the week we were there...but Chris and him had a great understanding....take care..Mary Ellen

So everyone says he is good for the RPLND, but I am not seeking this surgery. And I assume he will try to push this on me if he is an expert.

Is he good for surveillance as well?

If the lymph nodes are still swollen he will want you to have an RPLND. My big concern for you is that you had 50% teratoma. If the nodes have teratoma in them they really should be removed.

My CT scan did not show any swollen lymph nodes. Actually the CT scan came back all clean (full scan) except for a 7mm nodule on m right liver, but the doctor said that it was probably nothing. I would agree if the lymph nodes were swollen I would be more than willing to have the surgery.

And like you said with the teratoma it's best to get that out because Chemo and radiation do not do so well with teratoma.

I should be getting my second opinion on my path from Indianapolis this week. Maybe even today!

Not having swellen nodes is great. Make sure you bring copies of everything to Sloan when you visit them.

I just read your PM. I have already been getting everything ready to fax to Sloan. My slides and copies of CT and Ultrasound are on the way to sloan (fed ex).

My first 2month follow up scan is scheduled for Nov 16th with DUKE, but I am hoping they will just do it while I am in New York.

Dr. Sheinfeld is just great. I know he can be sort of matter-of-fact but I always felt like he and I had a special doctor-patient connection. We are both from Scarsdale, NY so he asked me all about what part of the town I live in, etc (his kids went to my high school). I am also on the BYU ski team and compete at a collegiate level - he seemed very interested in that (I think he is a skier) and in reassuring me that I would be totally 100% ready for the ski season, just 4 months post-RPLND. He told me he has performed the RPLND on several professional athletes, including hockey and football players, and they have all gone back to play professionally with no loss of ability. What an incredible man and what a blessing to have him as a doctor, whether he performs the RPLND or not - he and his support staff are all the very best! I owe my future children to his skilled hands!
