Im glad to hear that you are seeing Dr. Einhorn. I suspect that after your visit, you will feel solid on what is the best thing to do.
Shake that mans hand for me too!

Well I certainly received a curve ball today. Went to see Sheinfeld about a repeat RPLND and his advice was to have 4 rounds of TIP chemo first. Dr. Einhorn's initila reaction was to have the RPLND first to see if this cured the problem.

I am seeing Einhorn nect week, just a bit confused this evening!!!!

Hi Dave: Sounds like you've had success making contact with Dr. Sheinfeld's office, and it's great that you've made it to this step. Let us know when your surgery date is scheduled and continued well-wishes from your Forum Family.

My local urologist has suggested the the best person to do this is Dr. Sheinfeld, but it should be done within a month. Does anybody know how to get in contact with Dr. Sheinfeld, so I can at least see if I can get in his schedule?

    Thanks in Advance.

Excellent news David ... The surgery may be just the fix you need. Anthony had a recurrence after chemo, and Einhorn recommended RPLND and NO chemo, unless he has another recurrence after surgery, then its off to Indiana for HDC.
I realize you had RPLND already, but with the nodes not being too large, and your markers good, maybe surgery will take care of everything.

Anthony had a residual mass that was 5.7x I forget exactly, that was removed along with all the nodes on his left side. His surgeon said all of it was cancer. His AFP was back up to 93 as they made the first incision. So far he is doing very well and has had no other chemo since his recurrence. (crossing fingers and praying it stays that way)

I have always heard great things about sheinfeld too, he is supposed to be one of the best at RPLND.

So, you have a few things in your favor with signs pointing to low cancer, studies showing that surgery can be "curative" , advice from Dr. Einhorn and surgery from Dr. Sheinfeld. Recurrence can rattle your psyche, without a doubt, but try if you can, to see the reasons you have to see a cure on the way, and don't let %'s mess with your mind too much.

You're in good hands, and a lot of prayers are with you.

I wish you peace of mind, heart, and soul

    Tammy
