Help with throat pain..

Have they talked about putting him in the hospital during treatments so that they can take care of his pain and look after him more closely since he is feeling so terrible? My husband was always at home when he was not getting treatments but I have heard of some that stay in the hospital.

I am so sorry, I know what it is like to watch a loved one not doing well and I pray that he feels better soon.

I'm really sorry that Jason is taking a big hit from the chemo. Petep, one of our members, has a thread (linked here) that has tips on managing BEP chemo. It is full of great advice that will likely come in handy. I take it he went in today for his bleo push, right? You might want to get in touch with the nurses if things get worse (and make note of every single symptom). In the meantime, check out Petep's tips. Let me know if there's any way I can help.

If you can keep him away from any mouth products that have alcohol. Look for toothpaste made from baking soda and alcohol free mouthwash. It should help a little.

Beth, does the doctor know why Jason has a sore throat? Is it the same as the sores in his mouth? How about if he sucks on Popsicles or water ice?
My heart is breaking for you right now. I wish I could give you wonderful words that would help you, but I can only offer you thoughts and prayers.

Can Jason take any kind of pain medication for the sore throat? Maybe Fed will have some insight. I can't recall any of the other guys complaining of a severe sore throat.

Things are bad and going down hill. Yesterday Jason complained of a sore throat, then kept us up all night. He can't swallow and says on a scale of 1-10 he is at a 9. The doc put him on a gargle, but he says he can't get it deep enough down. He is shaking and says he would rather die. I know it will pass, but it's hard to take this. We have tried everything we can think of....please help. I'm so tired. He does have some mouth sores, which are better with the medicine. Thank you.
