I'm under surveillance and the blood test and X-ray forms I have to hand over ask for 'germ cell tumour' tests. Is this a generic term for cancer or does it mean something else?
Germ Cell Tumor - A tumor arising from germ cells. 95% of all testicular tumors are germ cell tumors. Germ cell tumors in men are classified as either seminomas or nonseminomas.
Germ Cell - In the male the testicular cell that divides to produce the immature sperm cells; The male germ cell remains intact throughout the man's reproductive life; 95% of all testicular tumors are germ cell tumors.
