    Round 1,Days 1 & 2

    Hi All,

Yesterday was the threesome of weedkiller,Bleo,Cisplatin & Etoposide.
Today was just the Cisplatin & Etoposide as it will be for the rest of the week.
As in the words of Matthias,"the gift of life"

I've taken the advise of many here, and drank TONS of water, made sure I've had all my anti-nausea meds, and so far,so good !

    Fingers crossed though.

    Best Wishes

        Hi Mikey.

        Sounds good!
It seems like we, the older guys, have an easier time with BEP than the kids around thirty - or even younger...
It's not anywhere near a fact, but it would be nice if you can ad even more substance to the theory.

        Best wishes

          Round 1, Days 3 & 4

Not much new to report.(Good I guess ! ) Starting to feel at home in the infusion room, getting to know some of the nurses and other patients. Quite the experience really. As far as side effects go,so far the only one that is apparent,is the "bagged" feeling at the end of the day that I have run two marathons, or maybe played a full 60 minute hockey game ! Sorry, just the "Canuck" in me I guess.

          Best Wishes

            Hello Mickey

I am from the province of quebec and doing BEP right now since november 14 th. My first round went very good. No nausea, no ringing, no change in taste. I have to say that i had a rough day on last sunday dealing with weakness and nausea but now i am feeling well and waiting for second cycle.
I still have my hair and don't know when they will fall.

Survived the 5 the staright day of infusion without fanfare. However yesterday (Saturday) and today, Mr & Mrs Nausea and Vomiting have paid me a visit. Solid foods is the FARTHEST thing from my mind right now, just trying to get some fluids to stay down.

              This too shall pass......

A bleo push this Monday, and the Monday following...,
then back in the ring for round 2.

              I can do this !

                mikey:
I don't know what anti-nausea meds your talking but don't stop just because the chemo is done for the week. My son did great dealing with the sickness but he had to take the meds until Monday after the chemo was done. Stay ahead of this. It's important to be able to maintain your weight, and yes this too shall pass.

                    Round one,Day 15

Today was the final bleo push of round one,so the balance of the week is for recovery. The only side effect at this point that is causing me any "grief",is some mouth sores. I'm rinsing with salt water which seems to help. Oh,had a couple of Carona's on the weekend, purely for medicinal purposes !

I pray round 2 goes as well as round one did !

As far as mouth sores go: even in the absence of Chemo, I endure it about 1-2/ year. My favorite remedy is Kanka which is OTC here in US.

Ask your doctor about Magic Mouthwash too. Potent stuff best used when cold. It's got a mix of some OTC meds and script items too. It worked wonders for Wesley. April

                              Magic Mouthwash

Wesley also used his for sores from a combination of steroids with antibiotics when he had a bad case of poison ivy and a head cold. It seems he has spent a little too much time outside in the tree stand during the cool, wet weather here lately. He's better but I told him that I didn't think it would hurt to try it after he had finished a dose pack of Zithromax and a Dexpack steroid. April
