Hi all,
I haven't posted for a while as we really felt our journey ended in 2013 after hubby underwent right orchiectomy and on advice from the medical oncologist we decided to proceed with active surveillance.
Last Friday was his 4 year check up, we didn't expect much given...

Treatment options?
Hi all,
Just looking for some advice on treatment options. I had a 4.5cm pure seminoma, left testicle removed one year ago. We decided to do surveillance although the surgeon noted there were several "prominent" lymph nodes that were around 1.2cm. About four months later...

2 years, question about continued follow up tests
I had a left side orchiectomy 2 years ago, after being diagnosed with stage 1A tc, with only surveillance since then. Still all clear, which is great! Every 3 months for the past 2 years I have had bloodwork and CT Scans of abdomen, pelvis, and chest. I'm concerned about the amount of radiation and...

Question About Radiation Treatment???
I recently completed radiation therapy for Testicular Cancer (pure seminoma, right testicle, stage 1). They treated the right lymph nodes on my abdomen. Now, 2 months after treatment, I had a chest x-ray, then CT Scan and there is a small (1/2 in) nodule on the lower part of my right lung.

2 years all clear - avoiding CT Scans
Hi Gang,
I am still all clear since my stage1 seminoma diagnosed 2 years ago. My doc wanted to do an annual CT scan but I have read that there are many new studies out now showing the harmful effects of too much CT scan radiation. I asked my onc if he thought a chest xray would be enough...

Cardiovascular risk factors & morbidity in long-term survivors of TC.....Abstract
Evidence of the harm of treatment, although the chemo and radiation protocols were probably harsher decades ago. And good reason to maintain a healthy lifestyle and get regular check-ups.

Newly diagnosed seminoma...any other bikers?
I just thought I'd post, since i've been reading the boards for a few days now, and found it very helpful so far. Just after labor day, I went in to my primary care doctor to take a look at my swollen left testicle... He at first suggested it was just a case of hydrocele, but suggested I get an ultrasound...

CT's versus MRI's
When I saw this, I was really hoping that there would be some useful conclusions. Alas, it was just a literature review which came to no conclusions, other than a large study is needed.
Diagnostic value of multislice computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging in the diagnosis...

Deciding on treatment
Hi guys -
I'm 2 weeks post op and am having a really hard time determining my next treatment options. My pathology came back as a Stage 1 T2 seminoma. There is no sign of spread, but since the tumor was greater than 4mm and invaded the rete testis, I'm told recurrence rate is closer...

Carboplatin verses Radiation for Stage 1 Seminoma
I had an interesting talk with my doc today. He has been presenting radiation as the only option following my Stage 1 Seminoma. I asked him about his thoughts on single dose carboplatin. His response was that he had never heard of that and that it was definitely not a good idea. Of course I was armed...
